what's the deal with dating?

Everyone seems to have a different meaning of the word dating in the world today. Some people think it is just a fun activity with a person to just hanging out to being in a committed relationship with someone. Definitions of words can cause great confusion when we speak of certain topics and that is why it is so important to all be on the same page before you start. I remember when I was younger I had a rule that I could not date until I was 16 years old. I was 15 at the time and so excited for not only being able to date but also, I would get my driver’s license I was telling my friend about my excitement and watched as she stared at my confused when I said I could start dating when I turned 16. Finally, she interrupted me and said “wait you are going to have a boyfriend right when you turn 16?!” I was so confused and said no that would just be weird. Obviously, we saw the world very different. Many misunderstandings have come not taking the time to understand a word.

When I am talking about dating I am talking about planned, paid

for (by the person who asked), and paired off activities that help you to get to know someone better. Note that this is very different from hanging out with is when you don’t have things planned you just do whatever and you are not necessarily paired off. The difference may not seem like much but it has a huge impact on what happens in a relationship especially later on. So why is dating so important? I think it is important because as you see people in a variety of different situations you really get to know who they are. But I will talk more about that in a bit, because dating doesn’t only have one reason why it is important or why we do it. Some reasons include recreation. Sometimes it is just fun to go on a date. maybe you date because you want other people to think you are cool because many people want to go on dates with you. Another reason the that may be more obvious is to see is if you want a lasting relationship with that person. But like I said that is not the only reason so you don’t have to be afraid of marrying the first person you go on a date with! It is ok to just go to have a good time and get to know someone.

Now if you do what to look for a potential spouse dating is the best way to do it. I know even I am guilty thinking that all that matters is the minutes you spend together so I would have by boyfriend be at my place for how ever long he could but I realize now that hanging out in this way in only one situation was not helping me to really get to know him like I could. When you do on planed dates you are able to see how someone reacts in a large variety of situation and that’s what is really important. The quality the of the minutes you spend with other matters. Think about it how much do you learn from a person if you sit on a couch talk a little and kiss. Well you learned they kiss good or bad but think about if you went to soup kitchen and helped out there. You could learn if that person is caring and kind if they are a hard worker or good with other people and that is just one example of a date. your life will be enriched if you make dating part of your life. Even after you are married! You will come to know others in a more unique and deep way that will help you to truly find a person who you can love for all of eternity.
